Coromandel Launches Water Conservation Initiative in Rajasthan to Promote Sustainable Livelihoods

Multi-year initiative to create 9 crore litres of water storage capacity and enhance irrigation access for 342 farming families in Udaipur

Udaipur (Rajasthan), May 2025: Coromandel International Limited, one of India’s leading agri-solutions providers, has launched the “Sustainable Livelihood Development Project for Water Conservation and Management” in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This long-term CSR initiative aims to enhance water security in rural, drought-prone communities by improving access to water resources and promoting sustainable farming practices.

The project promotes efficient water use through the construction of earthen bunds and check dams, rejuvenation of existing harvesting structures, and adoption of micro-irrigation methods such as sprinklers and drip systems. These efforts are expected to create a water storage potential of 9 crore litres, providing irrigation to 205 hectares of agricultural land and benefitting 342 farming families.

In parallel, Coromandel is conducting dedicated training sessions and capacity-building efforts aimed at helping farmers adopt climate-resilient agricultural practices. These interventions aim to enhance farm productivity, improve livelihood opportunities, and promote sustainable management of land and water resources in the region.
